Is 20g of Matcha Enough? Make the Most of a Tasting Set
แชร์
A 20g pouch can sound like a fleeting introduction. At 2g per bowl, it gives you about ten opportunities to get to know a matcha: the first curious sip, the cup you make again, and the one that becomes your favorite.
That is the idea behind our six-variety Yame Matcha Trial Set. You can discover what you enjoy before choosing more of one variety—and you have enough of each to revisit your first impression.
20g per pouch. Six pouches. 120g to explore.
The smallest set contains 20g each of TEN, SAKURA, MICHI, RED, #8 and AYAME. The 20g refers to each variety, not the whole set.
| Matcha per drink | Servings across all six pouches |
|---|---|
| 2g | 60 |
| 3g | 40 |
| 4g | 30 |
These are estimates based on powder weight. Your recipe determines how many drinks you make.
Give your first impression a second cup
You do not need to taste all six at once. Begin with a variety that sounds appealing and make a familiar recipe. On another occasion, prepare it the same way and see what draws you back.
Then try a second variety with the same amount of matcha and water. Keeping the preparation consistent makes your own comparison more useful. Our home tasting guide walks you through the preparation.
A short note is enough: “silky,” “rounded,” “fresh,” or “I want this again.” You might find that the tea you reach for a second time is different from the one you expected to love.
Choose your first pair by what you enjoy
All six come from Yame, Fukuoka, Japan. Use these tasting notes as starting points; your preparation and preferences shape what you notice.
Curious about creamy umami? Try TEN and RED.
TEN brings the creamy texture and gentle natural sweetness of 100% Okumidori. RED combines Okumidori and Yabukita for a rounded cup with balanced umami.
Drawn to a silky texture? Try SAKURA and AYAME.
SAKURA offers gentle sweetness and a clean finish. AYAME brings a silky texture and clean finish from first-flush Yabukita. Notice which you want to prepare again.
Interested in aroma and finish? Try MICHI and #8.
MICHI is a four-cultivar blend with layered umami and a long, naturally sweet finish. #8 offers fresh aroma and balanced umami from first-flush Yabukita.
What arrives—and which size to choose
Your set arrives as six separate plain silver foil pouches, one for each variety. Bowls and preparation tools are not included.
Choose 20g per variety for an introduction with room for repeat tastings. If you want more of every tea for sharing or recipe comparisons, the same set is also offered with 30g, 50g or 100g per variety. Check the product page for current prices and availability.
There is no need to open every pouch for your first tasting. Follow the storage instructions supplied with your matcha, and work through the varieties at your own pace.
Choosing for a café?
Use the recipes, milk and sweetener you plan to serve, and record the amount of matcha in each drink. A larger pouch is useful only when you know how that tea fits your menu.
If everyday lattes are your main focus, also explore Fuji and Kiku, our recommended latte options. They are sold separately and are not included in this six-variety set. Once you have a favorite, browse our Bulk & Wholesale collection for your next order.
