How to Make Caramel Popcorn
Ingredients
-
Popcorn kernels: 40 g
-
Vegetable oil: 3 tablespoons
-
Caramel sugar: 20–30 g
Instructions
-
Add vegetable oil and popcorn kernels to a large frying pan. Cover with a lid and heat over medium heat.
-
Once popping begins, gently shake the pan. Reduce heat to low and continue until popping stops.
-
Transfer the popcorn to a tray or bowl and set aside.
-
Wipe excess oil from the pan. Sprinkle half of the caramel sugar evenly into the pan without overlapping.
-
Heat over medium-low heat without stirring until the sugar begins to melt. Add the remaining sugar and swirl the pan gently to melt evenly.
-
Lower the heat and be careful not to burn the caramel.
Do not touch the sugar before it melts, or it may harden. -
Add the popcorn back to the pan and quickly mix with a spatula until evenly coated. Remove from heat.
⚠️ For best results, gas stovetops are recommended. With induction cooktops, heat may concentrate in the center.
